American Fiberglass has spent fifty years building for the industries where fiberglass performance is not optional. Mining operations and water treatment facilities have been the foundation of our work since 1970 — environments where chemical resistance, structural integrity, and long service life aren't specifications on paper, they're operational necessities.
Open-pit and heap-leach mining operations place extraordinary demands on containment and process infrastructure. The chemistry is aggressive — sulfuric acid, cyanide solutions, copper-bearing leach liquors — and the scale is large. American Fiberglass has been fabricating FRP tanks, vessels, and floating pump infrastructure for mining operations across the Southwest and beyond for five decades.
We build for the full range of mining process applications including SX/EW (solvent extraction and electrowinning), CIP/CIL (carbon-in-pulp and carbon-in-leach) gold recovery, and SART (sulfidization, acidification, reduction, and thickening) processes. Our engineering team understands the chemistry, the process requirements, and the operational environment — not just the fabrication.
— Process solution storage tanks
— Acids, bases, and cyanide-bearing solutions
— Pregnant and barren solution containment
— Electrowinning cell components
— Secondary containment systems
— Floating pump station barges for solution ponds and tailings impoundments
— Custom process vessels to engineering specification
American Fiberglass pioneered fiberglass floating pump stations in the 1970s specifically for mining pond applications. Our barges are engineered for the chemical environment of each pond — acid solution ponds demand a fundamentally different construction than fresh water. The original Morenci, AZ barge fabricated by American Fiberglass remains in service today.
Water treatment and municipal infrastructure represent the other half of American Fiberglass' core market history. From large municipal treatment facilities to industrial water systems, we fabricate the tanks, vessels, scrubbers, and pump infrastructure that keep treatment processes running.
Chemical storage is the foundation — sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid, and other treatment chemicals demand corrosion-resistant vessels engineered for their specific chemistry and concentration. Beyond storage, we fabricate the full range of water treatment infrastructure from chemical feed systems to scrubber towers.
— Chemical storage tanks
— Sodium hypochlorite, caustic soda, acids, and treatment chemicals
— Chemical feed and day tanks
— Process treatment tanks
— Scrubbers and scrubber towers for odor and emissions control
— Floating pump station barges for reservoirs, retention ponds, and water supply infrastructure
— Secondary containment systems
— Custom process vessels to specification
Beyond mining and water treatment, American Fiberglass fabricates FRP vessels and infrastructure for a broad range of industrial process applications where corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility are the engineering requirement. If the process involves aggressive chemistry, high temperature, or demanding service conditions — and standard materials won't perform — FRP is typically the answer.
We work directly with engineering and project management teams to specify the right resin system, wall construction, and appurtenances for the specific application. Custom fabrication for industrial process is not a secondary capability — it's the same engineering-first approach we bring to every project.
An emerging critical infrastructure market Data centers under construction across the U.S. require the same FRP capabilities AF has provided to industrial clients for fifty years — chemical storage for cooling water treatment systems, process vessels for water conditioning, and fire suppression infrastructure. These facilities operate continuously with zero tolerance for unplanned failures, which makes material selection and fabrication quality non-negotiable.
American Fiberglass fabricates to the exacting specifications critical infrastructure requires. As data center construction expands across the Southwest and nationally, we are positioned to serve this market with the same engineering depth we bring to mining and municipal water treatment.
