FRP Tanks & Vessels

A recent American Fiberglass FRP Tank Installation

Not all fiberglass tanks are built the same. American Fiberglass engineers and fabricates FRP vessels to the specific chemical, structural, and operational requirements of each application — because a tank holding sodium hydroxide demands a fundamentally different resin system than one holding sodium hypochlorite. We've been getting that right since 1970.

Filament Wound Construction

American Fiberglass tanks are filament wound — a fabrication method that produces a structurally superior vessel compared to hand layup alternatives. Filament winding precisely controls the resin-to-glass ratio and fiber orientation throughout the tank wall, resulting in consistent laminate structure, maximum hoop strength, and superior resistance to both pressure and chemical attack.

Tank cylinders are fabricated seamlessly from base to top rim — no seams, no joints, no potential failure points in the primary vessel wall. Top caps and access fittings are precision-fabricated and joined to specification.

Tank Specifications

American Fiberglass fabricates vertical and horizontal cylindrical tanks for above ground and underground applications:

— Up to 20 feet in diameter

— Up to 100,000 gallon capacity

— Full range of chemical service: potable water through aggressive acids and caustics — Custom appurtenances including fiberglass caged ladders, guardrails, mixer support bridges, sight level gauges, pressure-relief blowout hatches, internal baffles, internal sloped floors, and sidewall insulation

Chemical Service

Corrosion resistance is not a feature — it's the foundation of everything we build. American Fiberglass engineers the resin system for the specific chemical being stored, including concentration and temperature. We regularly fabricate tanks for sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and other aggressive media. Caustic applications — often more damaging to FRP than acids — are a specialty.
